Fortepijoninis trio ''FortVio'' | ''Baladės mėnesienoje''
"Ballads in the Moonlight" – a concert by the ensemble "FortVio", blending the beauty of different epochs and musical traditions, inspired by natural landscapes and poetic imagery.
The 13th International M. K. Čiurlionis Music Festival invites you to a unique concert where different eras, styles, and musical traditions will meet – from Lithuanian to global musical masterpieces. The ensemble "FortVio", demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and enthusiasm, will once again aim to surprise the audience. This time, they will present a unique program, where deep emotional experiences and musical discoveries merge the spirit of M. K. Čiurlionis' works with the beauty of masterpieces by other great contemporaries.
The concert will feature Čiurlionis' works, which reflect the beauty of the composer’s homeland and Symbolist imagery, Eduardas Balsys' "Habanera", blending Lithuanian and global musical elements. There will also be Antonín Dvořák's trio "Dumky", where elements of Romanticism and folklore evoke Čiurlionis' music. The program will be complemented by the famous Claude Debussy's "Clair de Lune", illustrating the Impressionist approach to nature. Astor Piazzolla's "Winter" and "Spring", thematically related to Čiurlionis' works, reflect the composer's perspective on the cycle of seasons.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS:
The piano trio "FortVio" known for its vibrant and compelling musical interpretations, was founded in 2006 and immediately became involved in active professional work. The ensemble, consisting of graduates from the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, won first place at the 5th International Stasys Vainiūnas Piano and Chamber Ensemble Competition in April 2006 (Vilnius, Lithuania) and secured third place at the 13th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pertschach, Austria, in September of the same year. The trio’s preparation for the competitions was guided by Professor Dalia Balsytė.
In the summer of 2007, "FortVio" made a highly successful debut at the International Thomas Mann Festival in Nida, where they have often returned, presenting original programs. In 2008, the ensemble participated successfully in the 3rd International S. Taneev Chamber Ensemble Competition, winning second place and two special awards. In 2012, "FortVio" became a member of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), and in 2013, their performance at the International Master Competition for Music Teachers in Warsaw earned them the prestigious Grand Prix in the Chamber Ensemble category.
The trio’s performance is characterized not only by a precisely honed technique and an organic sense of musicality but also by compelling interpretations of the works they perform, often enriched by a subtle sense of humor. The ensemble’s repertoire spans works from different musical eras, ranging from Viennese Classicism and 19th-century European Romanticism to 20th-century music and contemporary Lithuanian composers. This diversity of music is often woven together into a single concert program, which captivates audiences not only with its variety but also with its depth.
In 2014, "FortVio" was awarded the Government of the Republic of Lithuania’s Culture and Art Prize.
The XIII International M. K. Čiurlionis Music Festival is part of the "Čiurlionis 150" anniversary program.
