French Nouvelle Vague will bring it‘s elegant sound to Vilnius on April 9

The French cover music group Nouvelle Vague will perform at “Loftas“ on April 9, 2025. With their characteristic blend of bossa nova-infused post-punk and new wave sound, the band will be visiting the Baltics in support of their latest album "Should I Stay or Should I Go," but the concert will also feature some of the group’s all-time popular hits. The Nouvelle Vague project was created in 2003 in Paris by talented musicians and producers Marc Collin and the late Olivier Libo. The original idea was to pay tribute to the genres and works of post-punk and new wave music by transforming them into bossa nova style. Over the years, the group’s musicians and vocalists have changed, but there have always been female voices that have enthralled fans worldwide.

Unique approach to contemporary classics from bands like Joy Division, The Cure, Depeche Mode, and Blondie has produced unforgettable cover versions such as "In a Manner of Speaking," "Love Will Tear Us Apart," and "Dance With Me." Over the years, their music has received critical acclaim, millions of streams, and an ever-growing international fan base, as well as countless accolades for their creative arrangements and atmospheric live performances.

Nouvelle Vague co-founder Marc Collin never imagined that the group would last long enough to release so many studio albums. Like all his musical projects, it was intended as a one-time event. “It was just an idea – okay, we should create a tribute the post-punk music era and it would be nice to make it in a bossa nova style. That’s one album. I didn’t think it would take a significant place in my life. And I certainly didn’t think I would be talking about it in interviews 20 years later,” said M. Collin.

Nouvelle Vague’s latest album “Should I Stay or Should I Go” continues the tradition of blending nostalgia with freshness, giving iconic songs a unique sound and subtly modern vibe. By reinterpreting some of rock music's most famous tracks, the album combines mysterious vocals with sophisticated instrumental accompaniment. This album is both a tribute to the music that has inspired them and a development of the band’s artistic work in a new direction.
