Candace Bushnell, author of the cult bestseller "Sex and the City", will come to Vilnius in May

In the spring of 2025, Candace Bushnell, author of the world-famous book and television series "Sex and the City", will come to Vilnius. The author of the stories that millions of women around the world have been waiting for, and the heroes who changed their views on friendship, fashion, relationships, career, independence and sex, also known as the real Carrie Bradshaw, will be performing at the "Compensa" concert hall on May 11. Here, Candace Bushnell will present her one-woman show "True Tales of Sex, Success and Sex and the City".

The author of "Sex and the City", which has become a cultural phenomenon, lives a truly colorful life. Candace Bushnell has brought the most interesting scenes and the most spicy adventures of that life to the stage, where she openly shares the true stories that inspired the cult television series, with her unique approach to fashion, literature, and, of course, sex. Tickets for Candace Bushnell's only performance in Vilnius will be available on the Bilietai.lt platform from December 4, 2024.

The internationally acclaimed writer was born in Connecticut, USA, and moved to New York at the age of 18. Here, Candace Bushnell worked as a freelance journalist and initially had to work hard to make ends meet. "Sex and the City", based on the life of Candace and her friends in New York and the adventures they encounter while dating, started in 1994 as a column in "The New York Observer". The provocative and witty stories soon became a book, and this one became one of the most successful and influential television series of all time, starring Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw.

In her one-woman show, Candace Bushnell, in legendary Manolo Blahnik shoes and with a glass of Cosmopolitan, invites audience on a whirlwind adventure that takes them to Manhattan. Here, you can enjoy the nightlife at the legendary club Studio 54, meet the real Mr. Big, and heal your broken heart in the company of friends.

“My intention when writing Sex and the City was always a feminist one. It’s been my intention since I was eight when I knew I wanted to be a writer. I always knew I wanted to write about women as we really were and to write about women differently than they were portrayed. That’s something that I’ve done with my books. Lucky for me, with Sex and the City, they got the memo, so they were able to emphasize a new woman, a single woman in her thirties who was independent and didn’t necessarily need a man to survive,”- says Candace Bushnell. According to the writer, “Sex and the City” has not lost its relevance to this day: “Although technologies has changed the world of dating, young people in relationships today face the same difficulties, joy and disappointments as before.”

On May 11, 2025, the audience gathered at the Vilnius Concert Hall “Compensa” will be able to hear first-hand stories about the people and situations that inspired Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. Presenting in a way that only she can, Candace will share love stories, laughter, ups and downs, and empowering life lessons she learned along the way, such as the importance of becoming your own Mr. Big.
